My friend, fellow Miami wine professional, and co-founder of Wine Guide Miami, Jacqueline Coleman (@historyandwine), has published a series of podcasts, covering (per its own description), “Discussions with the people who make up the wide range of diverse voices in the world of wine”.
The first in the series is an interview with Dinkinish O’Connor, a Miami-based writer and professor whose work has been featured in publications like Wine Spectator and Ebony (and, from personal experience, is a joy to taste with). What I particularly appreciated about this conversation, besides leaning more about Dink’s background in wine, is the way that she talks about natural wine, which she calls “conscious wine”. She makes no attempt to underline the conversation with science, instead focusing more honestly on the spiritual element.
Other Miami-based guests on the podcast have so far include:
- Alessandra Esteves, Director of Education at the Florida Wine Academy
- Ray Sholes, Creator of The Black Owned Wine Review
- Amanda Fraga, Beverage Director of the Genuine Hospitality Group
- Ervin Machado, CEO and Founder of Prosecco Zero
- Daisy Penzo, owner of Tuscany Wines Import based in South Florida
- Allison Slute, Wine distributor
And beyond Miami:
- Sarah Hoffman from Maker Wines (a California-based canned wine company)
- Kirk Wiles of Paradise Springs Winery in Virginia & Santa Barbara
- Arthur George, Winemaker and Author of The Mythology of Wine
- Maria Jose Granier, Founder of Jardin Oculto, a winery in Bolivia.

Each of these are around 35 minutes in length – ideal for a short car journey.
