Jacqueline had the opportunity to preview the Cinco Jotas ibérico ham GastroTour in Miami, and she shares more information about the event happening this fall.
Miami is in for a treat! Ibérico ham lovers in South Florida have an opportunity to try the premium Spanish meat as a part of expressive culinary creations around the city. Cinco Jotas ibérico ham is one of the delicacies of the world, and having access to it at restaurants all around town is an amazing opportunity for Miami gourmands.
Cinco Jotas Ibérico Ham GastroTour Miami
From October 20th through November 3rd, 13 of South Florida’s finest restaurants and chefs, including two-star Michelin L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, Itamae, Niu Kitchen, Fiola, Matador Room, Leku, and others, will be showcasing Cinco Jotas ibérico ham in a variety of dishes priced at $40 or less.
For example, at L’Atelier, guests can enjoy Le Boeuf Wagyu with Cinco Jotas ham, created by Chef James Friedberg. Chef Lateisha Wilson at the Matador Room has constructed a Brussels sprout salad topped with pear, fried poached egg, and ham. Additionally, don’t miss the Cinco Jotas Tortellini en Brodo prepared by Chef Jason Lin at Lido at the Surf Club.
And the Wine…
Of course, you will need some wine to complement the ham! At L’Atelier, Sommelier, Melanie, can help you pair your delicate wagyu, ham, and caviar dish with something you may not expect, such as La Soufrandière 2019 “La Combe Desroches” Saint-Véran from the Mâconnais region of Burgundy.
Chardonnay may not be what you would think to order with a dish like this. But this medium-bodied wine with honeyed pear and apple flavors, balanced minerality, brioche, and just a touch of toasted spice is absolute heaven matched with the saltiness of the soft premium meats.
Diners at Lido in Surfside will enjoy a tortellini en brodo (broth) with ham. This dish deserves a wine with a bit of girth, but reserved enough to let the ham shine. In this case, consider a Barbaresco from Piemonte, such as the 2018 Produttori del Barbaresco DOCG as a nice complement to the food. The wine will need to open a bit, so make sure you ask for a decanter. However, this bright wine with red fruit and spice has just enough tannin to match the weight of the ham and pasta, without overwhelming the dish with stickiness.
Cinco Jotas is a gourmet product that deserves an equal match. Ask the restaurant sommelier for wine pairing suggestions, and enjoy this culinary journey with an exceptional bottle.
