Brickell: Sake and Sushi at New Miami Omakase Restaurant, Sushi by Bou

Jacqueline recently had the opportunity to enjoy a perfectly paired sake and sushi experience by Chef Moon at new Miami Omakase restaurant, Sushi by Bou…

Brickell’s newest Omakase restaurant is sure to be a popular date night destination in Miami. Sushi by Bou, created by NYC-based SimpleVenue hospitality group, opened its second South Florida location at the SLS Brickell luxury hotel and residences on December 1st.

Omakase means, “I’ll leave it up to you,” and that’s exactly what you’ll do as skilled and entertaining chefs prepare a 12 or 17-course sushi experience while you enjoy a glass of wine, sake, Japanese beer, or craft cocktail. The best part about this special omakase experience is that it won’t break the bank at $60/pp for the 12-course, or $125/pp for the upgraded experience (not including drinks).

Sake and Sushi at New Miami Omakase Restaurant

Sushi by Bou features a small wine list (hey, Miraval & Gerard Bertrand!) and several sake options. But let’s face it, you should probably choose the sake to pair with your sushi. Bottles range from Kikusui Nigori “Perfect Snow” at $35 to Katsuyama Den Junmai Daigingo at $256 a bottle or $38 a glass. Other sake options include the Kubota Ginjo “1000 Celebrations” at $14/glass or $84 for the bottle, or Tensei “Song of the Sea” Junmai Gingo at $15/glass or $95/bottle.

If you’re feeling like you need some variety in your night, go for the “Flight to Heaven” for $50. Enjoy a flight of HeavenSake, including their Junmai, Junmai Ginjo, and Junmai Daigingo.

Here at Sushi by Bou, there’s also a menu of unique, signature cocktails, such as the Shiso Southsider, with Suntory Haku vodka, Shiso leaves, simple syrup and lime juice. The Yuzu Honey Bee is a combination of Maker’s Mark bourbon, honey syrup, yuzu and pink peppercorn. Ay-Karai is pretty spicy, with Casamigos Blanco, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice and agave. And the El Coyote is a mix of Sacrvm Mezcal, pineapple juice and Amarena cherries.

Japanese beers are also available.

Pick a sake cocktail, like the “Sake to Me,” & enjoy it in the cozy lounge area prior to your meal. Photo courtesy of Sushi by Bou.

Now, we get to the food! Each dish features the freshest, highest-quality fish sourced locally and globally. Depending on your chef’s selections, you can expect pieces with Hamachi (yellowtail), Botan Ebi (spotted prawn), Ikura (salmon roe), Hotate (scallop), O-Toro (fatty tuna), Unagi (bbq eel) and signature Wagyuni (“surf and turf”).

In addition to the chef’s choices, hand rolls and other sushi favorites are prepared upon request. There are also à la carte items available. After dinner, guests can choose to add seasonal mochi ice cream to the end of the meal.

Sushi by Bou offers an Omakase experience in Miami Tuesday through Sunday from 5PM-11PM.
