Heading north? Palm Beach local Cory Lipoff provides a useful recommendation for wine drinkers in Juno Beach.
In a strip mall in Juno Beach, near Jupiter, is a hidden gem of a wine store and bar called The Vine Post. The store is a family-owned business with Tom (the younger) and Tommy (the older) Battaglia running the show. The Vine Post is a friendly place that attracts an interesting group of locals, snow birds, wine lovers, wine professionals, and casual drinkers of all (legal) ages.
Although the Toms favor full-bodied Italian reds, and offer several Piedmont & Tuscan selections, the wine store also has a well-curated assortment of moderately priced classics. These include Bordeaux, Burgundy, California Cabernets and Chardonnay, and Champagne – as well as ‘cool kid’ wines. The wine bar has an eclectic array of wine by the glass options, including vintage Cava, a refreshing Bordeaux rose, a racy Sancerre, and a big, Cali-Rhone style wine, among others. The Vine Post also delivers to residences and businesses.
But here is the cool part: You can also buy any bottle off the shelf, pay a nominal $15 corkage, and enjoy it at the bar – and enjoy you will. The Toms have an arrangement with three co-tenant restaurants who will deliver excellent meatballs, flatbreads, perogies, dumplings or crispy duck to savor with your wine.
With its superior wines, food, and friendly staff, The Vine Post is also ideally set up for private tasting events. In a world where retail wine sales are dominated by the large, big box retailer, The Vine Post competes by providing warm service, convenience, a well-considered wine assortment (which includes sought after allocated wines), fair prices, delivery, and an exceptional venue in which to enjoy wine, as well as regularly scheduled wine tastings with producers and distributors. If you enjoy wine, The Vine Post should be on your radar.
